Identify the income-support payment
Choose the income-support payment and circumstance, see the current rate, add employment income and show how work changes the payment.
- Payment + circumstance
- Work and household income
- Working Credit / Income Bank / Work Bonus
- Future Rent Assistance assumption
Projected payment, combined income, work-income reduction, break-even chart and flags for partner, parental, asset, deeming or other tests not captured by a simple earnings slider.
Compare the payment with the actual property
Paste the advertisement or enter the property manually. The workspace calculates the rent share and bond position before the property is even saved.
- Weekly rent
- Bond
- Bedrooms
- Address + shortlist
Rent as a percentage of projected household income, estimated Rent Assistance, general affordability position and bond amount against the RentAssist bedroom cap.
Check RentAssist Bond Loan eligibility
Keep the Victorian assistance scheme separate from the general affordability benchmark.
- Household income
- Assets
- Residency
- Property ownership
- Rent-share rule
- Bond amount
A property can be financially tight even if the RentAssist rent-share test passes, or fail RentAssist even when a renter can otherwise budget for it. RentReady shows both.
Show the rental shortfall clearly
Do more than show green or red. Show exactly how far the current property sits from each threshold.
Shows the selected rent against a configurable household-income benchmark and expresses the gap in dollars per week.
Shows the separate RentAssist rent-share ceiling, bond cap and any shortfall against the selected property.
Calculate a useful extra-income target
Show how much work income can be earned before the payment starts reducing, where the payment is modelled to cut out, and the minimum modelled work income that brings the selected property inside both planning ranges.
- Target weekly rent
- Employment income
- Payment reduction
- Rent Assistance
The sliders show how a cheaper property, additional work income or a different shortlist option changes both the general affordability and RentAssist position.
Application & Rights Review
This is deliberately separate from the financial sequence but linked to everything already entered.
- Permitted financial and identity evidence
- Prescribed rental-application requirements
- Extra or prohibited questions
- Protected-characteristic context
- Potential discrimination red flags
The same income and property information can reveal application weaknesses, evidence options and strategies. The review can flag context without pretending to make a legal finding.
Which organisation and rule sits behind each part?
RentReady connects these systems, but it keeps their rules separate so one test is not mistaken for another.
Current payment rate, circumstance, work-income test and relevant concessions such as Working Credit, Income Bank or Work Bonus. Services Australia administers the payment; DSS provides the wider social-security policy framework.
Rent Assistance depends on rent paid and household situation. RentReady estimates the property-specific amount once weekly rent is known.
Separate eligibility rules cover household income and assets, residency, property ownership, the rent-share test and the bond amount. The rent-share rule is not the same as RentReady's general affordability benchmark.
From 31 March 2026 rental providers and agents must use the prescribed application form. RentReady explains permitted evidence, information limits and questions that should not be added outside that process.
Accommodation providers must not treat applicants unfavourably because of protected characteristics. RentReady can flag context and red flags, but it does not make a legal finding.
